Atlas Copco celebrates 50 years of growth in India
Stockholm, Sweden, January 28, 2010: Atlas Copco today celebrates its 50th year of operations in India. During this time, the company has become the country’s leading supplier of air and gas compressors, construction and mining equipment and industrial tools and assembly systems.
“India is one of the most important growth markets for Atlas Copco, where we have tripled our size over the last five years,” says Ronnie Leten, President and CEO of the Atlas Copco Group. “We will continue to invest in the business and in our people. Founded on January 28, 1960, Atlas Copco (India) Ltd today has more than 1 750 employees in 22 offices across India, with manufacturing facilities in Pune, Nasik and Hyderabad. Products are sold under brands including Atlas Copco, Chicago Pneumatic and Dynapac. The company also has two engineering competence centers, dedicated to compressor technology and construction and mining equipment.
Today, Atlas Copco is launching a range of new oil-injected screw compressors in India. Other recent highlights of Atlas Copco’s achievements in the country include delivering the first locally built paver from the newly constructed road construction equipment facility and being picked by Ford as the sole tightening partner for the car manufacturer’s expansion in India.
